If he gets better that's great. If he doesn't, he's just another reminder of that massive mistake. It's too bad, I don't think he could convert to a middle linebacker or a TE or anything else. He's a tweener that's stuck in a bad rut.

Re: 2008 Week 1 observations

Thanks for that Dave! I had yet to take a look over the post-game presser.

Re: 2008 Week 1 observations

Shanahan addressed Eb starting over Moss last night in the post-game press. He said they knew the Raiders planned to run more so Eb got the start, and he thought Eb played well and thinks he made the right decision. Shanahan indicated passing teams would see Moss. Who knows - keep 'em guessing.

Re: 2008 Week 1 observations

I agree, every passing week starts to look worse and worse for Moss. I'm trying to be patient; not every NFL star is a master out of the gate, but there were big concerns about Moss early on, and his inability to bulk up has definitely been an issue.

E. Shanahan does this all of the time on offense, emphasizing different players on different weeks. Also, could be that Moss did something that made Shanahan think he wasn't hungry enough to play, so he sat him to help his motivation. I hope that it is the former.

Re: 2008 Week 1 observations

Roy - No official word at all. He's a small guy though - maybe the Broncos were going for size a bit more against the Fade. I dunno.

Re: 2008 Week 1 observations

Anyone konw why Moss was a scratch?

Re: 2008 Week 1 observations

I loved how they used Lichtenstieger on the goal line as the H-Back.

Re: 2008 Week 1 observations

With such a short week, Earl, that is PERFECT transition from the Cloud 9 I'm on now to squaring my focus on the San Diego Chargers. Well done.

Re: 2008 Week 1 observations

Great break down, our offense really shined. I can't wait to see what marshall and royal look on the field with a real game plan. The defense really needs to be better against SD, but if cutler can repeat what he did last night I think he'll stup up Rivers once and for all.I think we could be 5-2 or 6-1 @ the bye week after that the schedule is in our favor and the sky is the limit for this the broncos. Here's to a great injury free season!!! Go Broncos!!!!

Re: 2008 Week 1 observations

Just to be technical, not including the nealing, Cutler connected 15 times on 300 yards which means 20 yards a pass trumping Tom Brady's 12.1 yards a pass during his record setting season.

Now I'm not saying he will trump Tom Brady's record setting season, I'm just putting it into perspective.

Re: 2008 Week 1 observations

One thing I forgot to add that I intended to:

Timeouts. Shanahan needs to give Cutler a better audibles package and more freedom to change the play at the lines. Having to use timeouts because Cutler doesn't like what he sees is costly.

E.
