With Hill, Dawkins, and now Goodman.. it makes me think that the front office believe the secondary in the draft was going to be weak, and that there was more to be had on the defensive line.. so (hopefully starting with BJ Raji) there will be a run on DL's in the broncos early picks

wow i think champ goodman and hill are all 30 and dawkins is 35.... pressuming that those 4 are the starters which i'm sure most right now are assuming they will be... we better be dead on with our d line picks/ pick ups... because we are looking worse then the green bay packers at how old our secondary is... were gonna need to get some young talent in within the next few years... if josh bell and barret work out then were half way there

I think that Josh McDaniels is off to a bad start. he's already alienating his starting QB and some other members of the team. His hiring was controversial to begin with, and this how he wants to start things out?

the front seven is gonna be the focus of this draft...well atleast we think. I mean God knows they might just draft a wideout with our first pick

i really think what we've done in free agency is great but NT is the most important position in the 3-4....d-line is most important and so far we haven't done much in that category

I think the key to any legit nfl starting CB being better than Bly or even Champ is still; bring the level of up front play up to where they feel comfortable playing only their position... trusting that the tackles in front of them will be made. I saw Champ miss a LOT of coverages the last two seasons trying to cheat off his man/area too much.
(Bly on the other hand got beat a LOT when he wasn't cheating)
I suppose this is obvious but it's the reality that makes it ok for me, getting Goodman rather than Bartell or McFadden.

Dre' Bly got shafted.

So far I think we're doing about as well as we can, basically putting together a completely new defense out of free agency, but I have no excitement for it, really. Curiousity, to be sure, but unless we get a top NT out of the draft, I see this defense sucking pretty bad.

Goodman is a decent signing for ONE reason only. 3-4 secondary schemes require alot of zone play. he can play zone despite his age. but the secondary is older now then last year.

So wikipedia says that Wright signed his RFA tender at $1.417 mil. I haven't heard any rumors that the Broncos would want to sign him. I can't imagine why they wouldn't try.

Does anyone know, would the Broncos have to give up anything to the Pats to sign him (since he was undrafted)?

Just like with Renaldo Hill, McD had to game-plan against this guy twice a year, so I trust that he knows what he's doing here.

My hesitation with both, of course, is that Miami had a pretty bad pass defense with a decent pass rush (see Joey Porter).

Now I"m hoping for at least one more defensive linemen signing, and then we'll be set for the draft. Has anyone heard anything about Mike Wright?
